Great to play a game that isnt just fluff. You learn too.

You know, I LIKE a word game thats challenging but give me a break. I feel I have an excellent vocabulary but Ive come across words Ive never even heard of prior to playing this game. Fortunately, you have a button in the game that will automatically give you the meaning of the word, but how can you honestly put words in the game that when you ask for a definition, it says not found in dictionary, look up in Wikipedia. Well, I had the word mopery and I wanted the definition, so I went to Wikipedia and it tells me not found, look up in another language ...WHAT??? I hit the language button and it tells me its an Estonian word and gives me a one word definition (in Estonian!...for crying out loud). I can see why people delete this game...so WAKE UP. We dont mind difficult words but at least give us a running chance...I doubt that I would have down loaded this game if i knew that you used words not found in the english dictionary...its sorta like cheating on your part... Good game! Sometimes the words are absurdly arcane, obscure, or obsolete; or are terms of art that would be known only by people with very specific training. They should be standard dictionary words, not "wikimedia" words. I would also prefer that my high scores after 3 "lives" be saved for my future reference. Otherwise, its enjoyable and challenging.
Yes, there are some words Ive not read before, but I find that stimulating to the ol gray matter! I love that I can read the definitions of those words and add them to my vocabulary. I really love Hangman for odd moments waiting or when calming down for sleep.
I came across many words, 25% or less, that were not really words. Pressing define word would bring up the dictionary that says it has no such word in it. Better word pool would be good for this game.
This is a very fun and challenging game.
When I initially downloaded app there was a definition provided for the word. Now you literally have to chase the definition down. Even then you may not find it.
This is a good word game. Most of the words are pretty challenging, or obscure but thats what makes it fun.
VERY fun to play, BUT.....the level of the words that are used is not for the average adult and definitely not for children. If the game had a selection for easy, medium, and hard words, the play would be a lot more enjoyable. A word Sannyasin (noun): (a Hindu religious mendicant). Come on man... I speak English and therefore I can not understand why anyone would expect people to know words like that.
I enjoy this game very much. I like that you have 10 guesses for each word, so you can solve most of them and prolong the game. I especially like having definitions offered so you can build vocabulary. Even crazy words use roots. Using the game as SAT prep.
I think this is a great game and even though some of the words are a little out there I love that it gives the definition.
This version is ok, I wish it had something showing the category, its like going in blind. And some of these words are like never heard of. But for the most part its great for killing time and for kids. They learn new words. Me too.
Wish you could earn more lives at certain levels - or maybe you do I just have not reached that far yet However I agree there are a good number of very obscure words or variations of words
Ive never heard of most of these words. I dont know the names of subatomic molecules. WTH this is designed by people that just threw together the oddest crap they could find to try and make it difficult. Why not add in quotes or phrases? Fail!
I have to agree with the tac, this vesion is adsurd. There should be categories and words that people actually use. This should be entertainment, not education.
Although some of the words are so obscure even the more linguistically educated among us need a bit of luck to guess the spelling and then need to look at the definition to know what the heck we just spelled, this game is fair, fun and challenging. I like it better than the other hangman options I have found and plan to keep it.
I love the game of hangman, but there are too many words that one would never use in everyday life. I would like to see more words that are actively used in the English language.
The quazmodical spomerfications are extulically sprigdoferous!!! Win!
Challenging game. Uses some obscure words, medical and scientific terms as well a the occasional British spelling, but is still quite addictive.
What makes it infuriating is all the foreign words (a japanese display nook, a polish carriage, a bahamanian drum). I suppose you cant get 44,000 words from the english language? I try to look at it as a learning game although I will be hard pressed to use "goombay" in everyday conversation.
